Rocket Yoga
Puerto de la Cruz | La Palma
The style founded by Larry Schultz in the 80s in San Francisco, the method that makes you take off like a "rocket."
Larry Schultz discovered yoga at 29 and was instantly captivated by the practice of Ashtanga. He traveled to India, where he spent many years studying with Sri Pattabhi Jois. Upon returning to the USA, he began teaching Ashtanga Yoga. However, he believed that postures should be accessible to everyone, which conflicted with the strictness of traditional Ashtanga Yoga. In his view, Ashtanga could limit students' potential because the most faithful teachers offer a new posture to students only when they master the previous one perfectly. And this perfection is not always attainable.
Thus, he took the liberty to modify and combine the three Ashtanga series he learned in India, which earned him the nickname the bad boy of Yoga. Despite this, his method was well received, so much so that one of his followers described his style as rocket yoga because it helped you go further, faster.
After his death, Rocket Yoga, now under the leadership of David Kyle, has gained more and more followers and is practiced worldwide.
